Local Futsal champions Hibernians will represent Malta for the first time in the UEFA Futsal Cup.

They play in a preliminary tournament in Bulgaria, between September 9 and 17, against FC Mladost (Bulgaria), Tirana (Albania) and Skovde (Sweden).

The 2006/07 UEFA Futsal Cup, the sixth edition of the club competition, will be contested by 40 teams from 39 different European nations, with Spain having two teams as Boomerang Interviu are the defending champions.

The competition will be divided into three rounds - preliminary, main and elite - before a 'final four' stage scheduled for April 26-28, with one of the sides in the semi-finals acting as hosts for the tournament.

The preliminary round will feature 16 sides drawn into four mini-tournament groups, including clubs from Austria, Germany, Malta, Scotland, Sweden and Switzerland - nations who are all fielding representatives in the UEFA Futsal Cup for the first time.

The four-mini-tournaments will be hosted by FK Nafta Mazeikiai (Lithuania), Granvalira FC Encamp (Andorra), FC Mladost Sofia (Bulgaria) and the Scottish entrants, to be confirmed in August.
