Real Madrid will sign six or seven new players to strengthen their squad ahead of next season, according to newly elected club president Ramon Calderon.

"The club has got enough money to sign all the players we need," Calderon said.

"We will have signed six or seven new players before August 3."

Before he was elected, Calderon said he had agreed personal deals with Milan's Kaka, Chelsea's Arjen Robben and Arsenal's Spanish international Cesc Fabregas.

However, he explained that now he had become president he would have to negotiate with the clubs rather than the players themselves.

"There was nothing to stop me talking to whoever I wanted before I was president of Real Madrid, but now I represent the institution and have to abide by the rules.

"Cesc (Fabregas) agreed that he would sign a five-year deal with the club, but we haven't started talks with Arsenal yet.

"Kaka wanted to come three months ago, but now we have to talk to Milan. We will try and pay less than 50 million euros for him."

But Calderon said that new coach Fabio Capello and sporting director Predrag Mijatovic would have the final word on all new signings.

Capello is reported to want several players from his former club Juve to join him at the Bernabeu, with defenders Fabio Cannavaro, Gianluca Zambrotta and midfielder Emerson top of his wish list.
