Two Badminton Association coaches, Norman Spiteri and Patrick Cassar, are currently in Saarbrucken, Germany, taking part in this year's Summer School.
The Summer School is an annual event which Badminton Europe has regularly organised for the past 25 years. It consists of a week-long intensive training course designed specifically for coaches.
This year's edition is being attended by 40 coaches from 26 countries. Participants will be using the state-of-the-art facilities at the Olympic Training Centre, where they will reside and train for the duration of the course.
They will be looked after by nine Badminton Europe high-performance coaches, who will provide them with valuable insights on the latest coaching techniques, applicable to children and youths, during a number of theoretical and practical sessions.
Spiteri has already taken part in the 2003 Summer School held in Denmark.
He has been actively involved in local badminton for the last 28 years, both as a player and as a coach. He is the holder of a Malta Olympic Committee diploma in Sports Leadership.
Cassar has been on the local badminton scene for these last 31 years, winning several titles with various local clubs. He is a former junior and senior national team player.
