New Zealand thump Australia 32-12

New Zealand beat Australia 32-12 in their opening Tri-Nations match yesterday, scoring four tries to the visitors' two.

Hooker Keven Mealamu scored two tries while captain Richie McCaw and replacement winger Isaia Toeava also scored. Flyhalf Dan Carter added 12 points from two penalties and three conversions, but missed five other shots at goal. Australia winger Lote Tuqiri and replacement loose forward Scott Fava scored tries for the visitors, while centre Stirling Mortlock added a conversion.

Australia host South Africa next Saturday in Brisbane.
