EnKor's next performance at its Summer Concert will truly be a special one. The choir, performing in new tailor-made outfits, will launch, among some other new pieces, two new original EnKor compositions.
The concert is being held at the Independence Gardens in Sliema on Tuesday at 8.30 p.m.
The colourful new robes have been designed specially for EnKor by Vanda Fsadni, who has long experience of the Paris fashion scene.
The two new original pieces were composed especially for EnKor by one of its members Stephen Ferrito.
One of them is the Celtic-sounding I couldn't see the light. Sung by one of the choir's Irish members and accompanied by our new violinist and the composer himself on the guitar, a real Celtic atmosphere is created.
The second piece is called Gloria, composed in New Age style. Starting off with the male singers, sounding like monks, accompanied only by strings in the background, the composition then builds up and the clear voice of a soloist mixed with the beautiful sounds of a classic soprano can be heard with the whole choir joining in towards the end.
Besides these two new original compositions, EnKor, under the direction of Johanna van Lent-Singels, will also be performing a selection of its versatile repertoire, ranging from classical pieces like King All Glorious and Handel's Hallelujah to its ever popular swinging gospels Oh Happy Day, Go Like Elijah and Get Together, and also the traditional Maltese L-Imnarja.
The Summer Concert will be held in collaboration with Sliema Council.
