A 19-year-old Hamrun youth was arrested after a bar in Qormi was set on fire early yesterday morning.

The door of the bar, in Sqaq il-Ghadam, was on fire at around 4 a.m., police said. Nobody was inside at the time.

In a separate incident, a Mini Metro was set on fire in St Julian's Road, Birkirkara.

The police said the car was extensively damaged while the door of a garage in front of it was also charred.

Members of the Civil Protection Department extinguished the two fires. In the first incident Enemalta was called on site to remove any electrical danger. Nobody was injured in either incident.

Duty Magistrate Joseph Apap Bologna appointed court experts to assist him with the inquiry. Police investigations are still underway.
