"Quite a few friends" of Geoff Barnett's will be giving Malta a miss this year in order to teach hunters a lesson (Killing Birds And Tourism, July 3). I must say straight away that I do not agree with what some of the hunters are doing on our island.

In fact, Mr Barnett has given me a great idea, and I hope that many of my Maltese friends will follow suit, that is, not visit the UK this year because of the molesting of young children, as young as nine weeks old, the murders that go on and the hunting of foxes, young fowl and deer, and the shooting of grouse, and because so many young, helpless children are made to suffer at the hands of grown ups, and because pensioners are taunted and made to move from their homes...

You see Mr Barnett, we happen to have television on the island and can see some of the things that are happening in the UK, and I tell you, they are not pleasant at all.

Although, I repeat, I do not agree with what most, but not all, of what the hunters are doing, I would rather have a bird caught and looked after at a hunter's home than have a child molested or murdered, leaving behind a burnt corpse...
