Cheap calls from abroad

People who want to call someone in Malta while abroad can do so at cheap rates even if they do not have phone cards, mobile phones or coins.

Maltacom's Call Home service is available in a number of both European and other countries.

The company said travellers can dial a Freephone number which gives them free access to the international operator in Malta, who will connect them to the Maltese number.

The prices of calls vary from 1c5 a minute when calling from Australia and Canada to 11c5 a minute from Argentina, German and Belgian payphones, Japan, Norway, Singapore and Spain. Calls from most European fixed lines cost 5c a minute.

Charges for the calls will be incurred by the person receiving the phone call. An additional operator charge of 17c7 for every call will be incurred if the call is successful.
