The Hilton Malta was given high marks in an EU eco-label audit conducted by the Malta Standards Authority, fulfilling the 37 mandatory criteria and achieving 30 points of 47 optional criteria.
The eco-label scheme is an officially recognised certification aimed at helping European consumers to choose greener and environmentally-friendlier accommodation services. The scheme's logo symbolises good environmental performance and gives assurance of added quality for consumers choosing a hotel. The MSA audit chairman congratulated the hotel and said he would be sending a positive assessment for recommendation to the EU eco-label commissioner for hotel accommodation.
The commissioner will be visiting Malta on July 27 for a seminar at the Hilton Malta when he will officially award the hotel with the European eco-label certification and discuss the scheme's promotion.
