A Libyan man was yesterday charged with holding a nine-year-old boy against his will and defiling him in Marsascala on Friday.

Omar Ammar Jolgham, 30, pleaded not guilty to defiling the boy and offending public morals.

Magistrate Jacqueline Padovani turned down his request for bail after hearing that he had come to Malta in November, 2005, and had overstayed his visa.

Police Inspector Louise Calleja prosecuted.

Lawyer Martin Fenech represented Mr Jolgham.
