I frequently take a walk on the beach in the area between the Dolmen Hotel and Ta' Fra Ben and would like to take this opportunity to commend the authorities for the clean state that the promenade is being constantly kept in.

However, some urgent attention is needed for the overgrown ramps and pathways leading to the beach and for a very good reason.

In the close vicinity of the first ramp immediately after the first kiosk, going in the direction of Ta' Fra Ben, one cannot fail to notice that some kind soul has made a regular habit and turned an over-grown bush into a very public toilet, on occasion leaving a roll of toilet paper hanging in this particular bush which gives one to understand that the culprit is a regular offender.

This is also within sight of the promenade where there is also an accumulation of rubbish near the same ramp/pathway.

The evidence is there for all to see, as there is now also an accumulation of used toilet paper, with all the disgusting smells that this person/s is creating in the area.

Is it not about time that toilet facilities were provided along the promenade especially where kiosks have set up a substantial number of outside seating facilities?

If these kiosks were licensed cafés or restaurants, seating the same number of clients, their licence would require them to provide toilet facilities.

What is so different in this situation? Surely it is necessary that these kiosks should also provide toilets even if the authorities give provision only for temporary portable toilets during the summer months.

The kiosk owners who are enjoying the profits from this additional seating should cover the cost.

Perhaps the relevant authorities can take immediate action to clear this area and have the bushes cut back which should at least stop this unwarranted abuse.
