•Gharb today celebrates the feast of the Visitation with a Solemn Mass led by Bishop Mario Grech at 9 a.m. The St Margaret Band plays marches at 11. Solemn sung vespers will be led by Mgr Benedict Camilleri at 6.30 p.m.

At 7.45, Mgr Grech will lead the procession, accompanied by the Visitation Band. The Leone Band gives a concert on the church parvis. There will be sacramental blessing at 10 p.m. after which the procession will enter the church. The St Mary Band plays marches at 10.30 p.m.

Thanksgiving Mass will be said in the Collegiate church tomorrow at 7.30 p.m. A barbecue will be held in front of the parish centre afterwards.

•Fr Ignatius Borg celebrates Mass for married couples at Kercem parish church today at 11 a.m.

•For the fourth consecutive year, Gharb council is holding the Infiorata on the church parvis today from 2 p.m. The Infiorata is an old tradition practised in Gerano, Italy, which is twinned with Gharb. A carpet of fresh flowers and leaves is laid in the main square of the town so that the procession can walk on it.

•An experience of sounds and words on the "Myth of Ulysses" will be featured today near Calypso Cave in Xaghra between 6 and 8 p.m. Excerpts from classical literature will be read in Maltese, English and Italian, with percussion sounds imitating the sounds of the sea by P. Pasqualin.

The activity is being organised by the Euro-Mediterranean Culture dei Mari Association. Entrance is free.

•The Gozitan Missionary Support Group is organising tea tombola in aid of Gozitan missionaries working in the Third World at the Crystal Palace, Marsalforn, on Tuesday at 6 p.m. Tickets may be obtained from Georgette Bezzina (tel. 2155-5709) or Mannani Farrugia (2155-3816).

•A Marian pilgrimage will be held from Kercem parish church on Tuesday at 7.30 p.m. Fr Martin Cilia MSSP will celebrate open air Mass in Triq l-Ghadira. The youth choir of the Jesus of Nazareth church of Xaghra will participate.

•High tea is being held in the grounds of the Don Bosco Oratory, Victoria, on Tuesday at 7.30 p.m. Tickets at Lm1.25 and (children, 85c) are obtainable from Antoinette Cremona or Marija Formosa or from the Oratory (tel. 2155-6616).

•The Cana Movement (Gozo Centre) is organising marriage preparation courses on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7.30 p.m. starting on Tuesday. Call at the centre for more information.

•The Fjur t'Assisi Choir is holding a Maltese night on the parvis of the Capuchins' church in Victoria on Thursday at 7.30 p.m. The programme includes performances by singers including Pamela Bezzina and Cynthia Attard and the Drama Unit. There will be traditional food, tombola, and various prizes to be won. Tickets at Lm2.50 are obtainable from choir members or the Capuchin Friars' monastery in Victoria (tel. 2155-6608).

•The Cathedral parish is organising a trip to the Trade Fair on Friday. Transport leaves Savina Square, Victoria, at 4 p.m. The trip will include a stop in Bugibba. Tickets at Lm3 (all inclusive) are obtainable from George Debono and Coney Island Bar. The Don Bosco Oratory is organising a similar trip on Friday. •The book Documentary Sources of Maltese History will be launched at the Sentinella Hall at the Gozo Citadel (just beneath the Cathedral bell tower) on Friday at 7.30 p.m. There will be two presentation speeches, one by Mgr John Azzoardi on "Archival research - the tools and rewards", and another by Dr Joseph Bezzina on "The impact of the Registrum Fundationum on the ecclesiastical history of Gozo".

Professor Stanley Fiorini, who wrote an in-depth introductory study to the publication and edited the book, will make the concluding remarks and later present a copy to Bishop Grech.

•The Victoria Scout Group is organising an Italian night with live entertainment at Villa Rundle Gardens, Victoria, on Saturday at 8 p.m. Tickets at Lm4 (children up to 12 Lm2) are obtainable from the Scouts' Headquarters, St Dominic Street, Victoria (tel: 2155-6497), Lorrie Saliba (7939-8928) or Anita Muscat (9920-9805) by Thursday. Proceeds will go to the Jamboree Fund.

•A traditional dinner to mark the feast of St George will be held on St George's Square, Victoria, on July 10 at 8.30 p.m., including entertainment by various singers and dancing by the Astra Folk Group. Tickets at Lm5 (children Lm3) may be obtained from Vajringa Supermarket, Kolina Attard and members of the La Stella Band Club committee.
