On a positive note

Thank you for your precious work in favour of us consumers. It is thanks to people like you that we have become more aware of our consumer rights and have come to expect the best service for the goods we buy. It is important to highlight any grievances but I feel it is just as helpful to point out any great service encountered.

I would like to use your column, if you would permit me, to thank the Homemate team for such a professional and customer-friendly service. I bought some pieces of furniture from them and encountered some difficulty while assembling them.

I phoned Homemate and spoke to the salesgirl who had sold me the items, Desirée. She not only remembered me but also reassured me that their handyman would call me the next day. True to her word, the handyman called in the morning and fixed the problem, free of charge. The work involved was pretty complicated, and he would not leave before he was perfectly satisfied. Now that is what I call service. We need more companies like this and we should stress the kind of customer care they offer. (Ray Cassar)
