The International Safety Training Centre of Hal Far (ISTC) has been selected to be the official representative of the European Fire Service Colleges' Association on the EU Leonardo Da Vinci project Address.
David Ghersci, managing director of ISTC, said the training centre had been appointed to this important EU representation as a direct result of its international growth.
Over the past six years, the ISTC had gained valuable experience in the training of fire and safety personnel from widely differing cultural backgrounds such as Algeria, Australia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, France, Greece, India, Italy, Korea, Libya, Mauritania, Romania, South Africa, Spain, Tunisia, the UK and Malta.
The aims of the Address (Achieving and Delivering Diversity Results within the Emergency Services Sector) project are to design, develop and implement programmes to enable trainers to deliver training for operational and managerial staff.
The European Fire Services Colleges' Association (EFSCA) was founded in 1998 by the fire fighting training colleges of Belgium, Finland, France, Greece, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain and the United Kingdom. It now boasts membership of the leading fire fighting colleges of all the European member states.
