Children's rights, including their right to play, are being discussed by children themselves during a weekend seminar organised by the Children's Commissioner.

Commissioner Sonia Camilleri said some adults, including various professionals, were concerned that this right was not always being respected.

Speaking to children yesterday at the start of the seminar, held at Mount St Joseph, in Targa Gap, limits of Mosta, Mrs Camilleri said one of her roles was to ensure that children's rights were not breached and that children are given special care.

"For this to take place everyone needs to be aware that children have rights as well. We all need to make an effort to ensure everyone knows children's rights," she said.

Mrs Camilleri said that if from a young age children were aware of their rights, future adults would grow up to care for children.
