A Libyan man was yesterday charged with assaulting two police constables in St Julians. Mahmoud Abd Asalam Salam Alhuni, 27, pleaded not guilty to assaulting the officers and slightly injuring them at 1.30 a.m. yesterday.

He was remanded in custody as he did not provide a fixed address.

Police Inspector Martin Sammut prosecuted.

Lawyer Leon Bencini appeared for Mr Alhuni.
