An article about people suffering from dementia by Stanley Borg, entitled A Trip Down Memory Lane, is the national winner for Malta in the EU's For Diversity, Against Discrimination Journalist Award 2005.
The overall winner, selected from all the participating countries, was Er Wordt gediscrimineerd, Punt Uit by Dutch journalists Sander Donkers and Harm Ede Botje who focused on ethnic and racial discrimination in the labour market, particularly against young Muslims.
Mr Borg is a freelance contributor for The Times, The Sunday Times, Grip, M, Modern Elegance and the Sunday Circle. He is the author of Waiting For Green and of the text for Norbert Francis Attard's Four Olympics.
This year, the Journalist Award will accept articles published in print and online media. It will also be open to articles about discrimination and diversity published in internal newsletters and company magazines.
The annual competition recognises work that contributes to understanding the benefits of diversity and the fight against discrimination in employment.
