Migrants on the loose

Seven irregular immigrants are still at large after a boat with some 27 Africans slipped into Xghajra in the dead of night yesterday.

At about 2.15 a.m., a police patrol noticed four men, two women and a child wandering about in the area of Triq Orlando, Xghajra.

When they were questioned the foreigners informed the police that they had formed part of a group of 27 irregular immigrants who had just berthed nearby. The boat was in fact found later in the area known as Golf it-Tafal, limits of Xghajra.

The police searched the area and apprehended 20 irregular immigrants who had been aboard the boat.

The search for the others goes on.
