Reference is made to the complaint lodged by Alfred Darmanin SJ of Msida in his letter Neglected Phone Booths (June 2).

Faulty payphones are detected by means of a computerised management system and all types of technical and electronic faults are cleared by and large within a span of two working days. Maltacom plc is currently upgrading its payphone network and plans in the very near future to hit the local market with a system which is even more efficient, user-friendly and operates on modern chip-card technology and pre-payment method.
