Appreciation - Anthony Sammut

Mr Henry Bellizzi, of Sliema, writes:

Tony is no more. After a long and painful illness which he bore patiently, bravely and with Christian resignation, he passed away to the rest he undoubtedly deserves; and we who are left and who loved him, are the poorer for his departure.

To all who knew him, Tony was everything a friend is - always willing and ready to help anybody who came to him seeking advice, encouragement or assistance in any way whatsoever.

To his family he was a guiding light and a gentle leader always pointing out the right way to follow to live a good and a useful life.

To those who worked for him he was a father and a counsellor, guiding and encouraging them not only in their work but also in problems and difficulties they meet in their private lives.

To his relatives and friends he was a staunch support, reliable and trustworthy in all circumstances; always ready to give and never asking or expecting anything in return, and perhaps the very best thing that can be said of Tony is that he was a good man - "good", that is, in the real meaning and all-embracing sense of the word.

May the Lord in his mercy grant him eternal rest and may he find the way to comfort and console his dear wife, his daughter and in-laws and his much loved little granddaughter in their sad loss.
