The Foundation for Human Resources Development launched its HR Awards for 2006 on June 12 during a breakfast meeting at the Westin Dragonara Resort.
This year the FHRD is offering three awards promoting best initiatives in human resource management and development. The FHRD accepts nominations from the manufacturing and services industries, which could include the retail, hospitality, government departments/agencies and parastatal entities for the Best HR Initiative Award and the Best Training and Development Award.
A special focus is also being made on micro entities employing not more than 50 people. To promote best practices and encourage innovation in people, the FHRD is offering these entities the Best People Initiative Award in SMEs.
In collaboration with Malta Enterprise Corporation and the Hotel and Catering International Management Association (HCIMA), the FHRD will be contacting potential companies to encourage them to participate in this award.
In addition, the FHRD is recognising those companies that meet a set of criteria for the Excellence in People Management (Malta) Award and Excellence in Training and Development Award, for which companies can also opt to have the feedback of 25 per cent of their non-managerial employees.
Among various awards, this year the FHRD is offering those companies that would have been awarded for their best initiatives free attendance for one member of staff to one course within its Continuous Professional Development Programme.
Companies who receive an award will also be eligible to a partially sponsored certificate course in Training Practice/Training Practice and HRM, offered by the Centre for Labour Market Studies, University of Leicester, UK. The FHRD thanks the management of the Westin Dragonara Resort for fully sponsoring the breakfast event.
