Matthew Asciak advanced to the semi-finals of an ITF tournament for U-18s in Copenhagen after a straight sets win over Mark Bowtell yesterday.

Asciak took the first set from Bowtell, of Ireland, after a tie-break. However, the second set was more straightforward for the Maltese player who won it 6-2.

Sixty-four players, from various parts of the globe, started the tournament. Asciak stays in Denmark next week for another ITF competition, starting on Monday, in Aarhus.

¤ The Junior Open at the Tennis Club Kordin, sponsored by Wilson, will take place between July 29 and August 5. Closing date for entries is July 23.

¤ The Zebbug Tennis Club will hold the BenPed Foot Care tournaments, starting on July 8. The events are singles, doubles and for U-14s.
