A 57-year-old man was held up outside a bank in Luqa yesterday morning and robbed of about Lm12,000.

The incident took place at around 11.30 a.m. in Dun Pawl Street when the Marsa man, who is employed by a private company, had just walked out of the Bank of Valletta branch and was about to get into his car, the police said. The hooded robbers fled with a bag containing some Lm12,000.

The car used by the robbers, a Toyota Yaris, was later found by the police on the outskirts of Luqa, near the industrial estate.

Nobody was injured but the man was treated for shock.
