I would like to thank Alan Meers (June 17) for showing his appreciation for the organisation of the Lace In The Street event. This unique event, held in the streets of Vittoriosa on June 4, was organised on the initiative of Klabb tal-Bizzilla Maltija. This lace makers' club has been functioning for only a year (since June 8, 2005) and it holds cultural and educational activities for its members. The club does not form part of any other organisation.

The Vittoriosa local council has greatly collaborated in allowing the use of the premises for the exhibition, which was held in the Auberge d'Angleterre, in Majjistral Street, and in providing the chairs and giving permission to use the Collacchio area to demonstrate lace making in the street. I would also like to thank the Vittoriosa police for their collaboration and also the media for their coverage of the event.

Last but not least, a big thank you goes to club members who participated in the event and also to other lace makers who joined in. I must not forget the hard-working committee who came up with the idea.

This Lace In The Street event has been a great success and will now be an annual event organised by Klabb tal-Bizzilla Maltija.
