Gemma Mifsud Bonnici, chairman of the Vodafone Malta Foundation, and Daniel Abela, who successfully crossed the 1.2 kilometre-long Ghadira Bay underwater and back, presented the bulk of the Lm13,895 collected during the Vodafone Malta Foundation Family Day to the Eden Foundation and Caritas Malta.

Some of the funds were also donated to paediatric cardiologist Victor Grech towards the setting up of Malta's first electronic medical journal.

Over 3,000 people attended the Vodafone Malta Foundation Family Day activities which included a beach soccer tournament and pony rides, among others last month.

Eden Foundation CEO Vince Borg said that the foundation needs more than Lm820,000 a year to operate and more than 54 per cent has to come from fundraising activities and donations.
