The Court of Appeal has revoked the bail granted to David Zerafa who stands charged with the murder of Gozitan lawyer Michael Grech in May 2004.

Mr Zerafa, 32, of Nadur was granted bail last week on condition he does not leave his residence without court permission.

He was also bound by a Lm5,000 deposit and a personal guarantee of Lm10,000.

His bail was revoked by the Court of Appeal on Tuesday on a request by the prosecution on the basis of Mr Zerafa's criminal record, the fear of interference with witnesses and the gravity of the case.

Lawyer Mark Said from the Attorney General's Office prosecuted together with police inspectors Chris Pullicino and Antonello Grech.

The accused was assisted by lawyer Joseph Giglio.
