Portugal's 2-1 win over Mexico earned Luiz Felipe Scolari a World Cup record of 10 successive victories as a coach.
"Ten wins in the World Cup is the kind of thing that would mark anybody's life, especially mine," Scolari said.
He also led Brazil to seven consecutive wins when they lifted the World Cup in South Korea and Japan four years ago. He said he liked Portugal's attitude against Mexico.
"It wasn't a game where everything was at its best but the way the team carried itself from beginning to end, I think it was good," said Scolari.
Scolari refused to comment on Portugal's opponents in the second round.
"It's not up to us to pick, it's they who will choose," said the Brazilian.
"When it's the World Cup, you cannot choose. It's best that we do our job from day to day and we try to get another win."
Mexico coach Ricardo La Volpe said his team did not convert enough of their chances.
"I believe our main problem is scoring," said La Volpe. "We had a penalty and didn't get it in. We have the forwards we need, we get to the opposing goalkeeper but we must put away our chances."
