In front of a sizeable crowd, Matthew Asciak recently clinched the British Airways Marsa SC Open title after beating Mattia Pecotic in straight sets in the final.
Asciak cruised past his opponent in the opening set, 6-1.
In the second set, Pecotic produced better play and was very close to forcing the match into a third set. However, Asciak got the best of the tiebreak to win the set 7-6.
A few days before, Matthew was joined by his father Gordon on their way to the doubles title.
They beat Delicata brothers, Daryl and Marcus, in the final at Marsa.
The presentation ceremony was headed by James Stagno Navarra, of British Airways, MTF president Tony Cilia Pisani, Marsa Sports Club chairman Ralph Asciak and Godwin Borg, chairman tennis section.
