A man was charged with threatening his estranged wife and her partner, even in the presence of the police, yesterday morning.
The 39-year-old Birkirkara man pleaded not guilty to threatening and insulting the woman and her partner and threatening to kill the partner.
He also pleaded not guilty to disobeying the police and breaching the peace at about 8 a.m.
The accused was granted bail on condition he does not approach the woman nor her partner. He was bound by a Lm500 deposit and a personal guarantee of Lm2,500.
Magistrate Abigail Lofaro presided over the arraignment.
Police Inspectors Victor Aquilina and Ramon Mercieca prosecuted.
