May I, through this paper, express our most grateful thanks for the kindness shown to us on Monday.

My wife Marion and I were walking in Valletta when she tripped and fell in Republic Street, close to the Labour Party club. Local people appeared from everywhere to help, including a man with an Alsatian dog who phoned for an ambulance. A chair appeared for her to sit on and someone bought some refreshing wipes for her to use on her forehead.

The treatment at St Luke's hospital was terrific and the speed puts our NHS to shame.

My wife had a dislocated shoulder, which fortunately went back quite easily and nothing was broken. She was overwhelmed by the treatment she received from both medical staff and the local people alike.
