A few days ago I read in The Times about the restoration of St Paul's church, in Attard. That church, besides St Paul's, of Valletta, is the only church in Malta dedicated to the Shipwreck of St Paul. I remember during World War II that the church was used by the refugees. On February 10, the parish used to expose the altar piece for the veneration of the faithful. Hats off to the initiative taken for the restoration.
I wonder why anyone is not interested in restoring the Tal-Virtù church, which is falling down? It is a shame that such a gem of architecture, the underground paleo-christian church as well as the hypogeum, are in oblivion. If restored, they can be useful for the nearby faithful as well as being a tourist attraction. I hope that some day it will be their turn for restoration.
