Dutch Volvo Ocean Race entry ABN AMRO ONE recorded a home victory at the Rotterdam in-port race on Sunday, hanging on to an early lead in light, gusting winds.

The 70-foot (21-metre) yacht, skippered by Mike Sanderson, crossed the finish line three minutes ahead of Brasil 1, winner of the previous leg from Portsmouth to Rotterdam in the round-the-world race.

Brasil 1's performance shortened the gap in the overall rankings with second-ranked Pirates of the Caribbean, who finished third.

ABN AMRO ONE have already clinched the overall win.

The Volvo Ocean Race, previously known as the Whitbread race, continues this week with a final leg from Rotterdam to Gothenburg in Sweden.
