Pembroke and Roccalumera, a town in Sicily, are planning to enter a twinning agreement.

A delegation from the Pembroke local council made up of mayor Joe Zammit, councillor Alfred Mazzitelli and councillor Evelyn Vella Brincat recently went to Roccalumera to meet the town's mayor Giovanni Miasi and councillors.

The two sides discussed the similarities between the two towns and the pros and cons of twinning. Youth exchanges, tourism, language studies and cultural visits were also the focus of the visit.

Mr Zammit and Mr Miasi signed a Letter of Intent to Twin at the council's conference room.
