FOI President Adrian Bajada and director general Wilfred Kenely held various meetings over the past week with foreign business delegations and diplomats.
On Monday, a business delegation from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Genoa, accompanied by Mario Galea, head - Niche Area Development at Malta Enterprise, visited the FOI. The delegation, headed by Dr Stefano Betti from the University of Genoa, also met officials from the Malta Chamber of Commerce and Enterprise, and the Italian-Maltese Chamber of Commerce.
On Thursday, a business delegation from the Chamber of Commerce in Vicenza, accompanied by Lionella Bertazzon, manager - Investment Promotion Italy at Malta Enterprise, visited the Malta Chamber of Commerce and Enterprise. The delegation, headed by Dino Menarin, president of the Vincenza Chamber of Commerce, also met officials from the Malta Chamber of Commerce and Enterprise, as well as the Italian-Maltese Chamber of Commerce.
Both meetings were part of fact-finding missions with the main discussions focusing on recent developments and specialisations within the respective regions, particularly in the areas of renewable energies, waste management and construction materials. The business delegations were interested in identifying potential partners in Malta for future joint ventures in Europe and the North African regions.
Last Tuesday Mr Bajada and Mr Kenely welcomed Malta's Ambassador for the Republic of China, Karl Xuereb, to the FOI. Following the introductions, the meeting ensued on the current Malta-China trade patterns and the development of investment opportunities both in China and Malta.
