Two separate fires, one in Zebbug and the other in Valletta, were reported early yesterday morning.

Mobile police on patrol in Siggiewi Road, Zebbug, at 1 a.m. spotted a truck on fire parked in a field. Firemen were called out to control the blaze.

At about 4.30 a.m. the police were informed that a car was alight in Merchants Street, Valletta. By the time the police arrived on the spot the fire had been extinguished by the person who had filed the report.

No one was injured.

The police gave no further details or indication about whether the fires were accidental or if they suspect foul play.

Duty Magistrate Antonio Mizzi has opened an inquiry in the two cases and the police are investigating.
