A 29-year-old woman was yesterday jailed for a total of two years and two months after she admitted to stealing jewellery during the operative period of a suspended jail term.

Magistrate Antonio Mizzi heard Jacqueline Rapinett plead guilty to stealing gold rings to the detriment of Carmelo Muxi in Hamrun sometime between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Wednesday.

She also admitted to committing the theft when she was serving a 14-month jail term that was suspended for two years.

Magistrate Mizzi jailed her for a year and ordered that the suspended jail term be put into effect.

Police Inspector Mario Tonna prosecuted.
