Fondazzjoni Patrimonju Malti has received another Lm10,000 through the HSBC Cares For Malta's Heritage Fund to assist in the final phase of the restoration of Palazzo Falson, in Mdina.
The fund had presented Lm10,000 earlier this year.
"Work at Palazzo Falson is now at an advanced stage and the results look breathtaking. Patrimonju are doing a fantastic job and are now in the process of dressing the house," the bank's chief executive, Shaun Wallis, said.
The contribution raised the status of the bank to associate level.
Palazzo Falson is the former home of Olof Frederick Gollcher OBE (1889-1962), who purchased the building in 1927. A lifelong interest in history and art led him to put together an impressive collection of paintings, silver, furniture, jewellery, oriental rugs, armoury and numerous other artefacts.
In 2001, Fondazzjoni Patrimonju Malti and The Captain O.F. Gollcher Art and Archaeological Foundation reached an agreement whereby Patrimonju was entrusted with restoring and managing the site as well as taking responsibility for reopening the palazzo as a historic house-museum.
