Only pride will be at stake today when the national team play their final World Cup 2007 qualifier against Bosnia Herzegovina at the Hibs Ground (kick-off: 6 p.m.).
Despite showing progress, Pierre Brincat's girls were never in the running to book one of the two qualifying berths from Group Six and a better ranking for the 2009 European Championship.
However, against Bosnia, the Maltese will be looking to end the qualifying campaign on a high and pick their first points in the competition.
Bosnia have just missed out on a top two placing.
Last month, they required victory with a two-goal margin against second-placed Croatia but could only manage a 2-1 win.
Eventually, they had to settle for third place in the group behind runaway leaders Slovenia, and Croatia.
