A Qormi man was yesterday charged with assaulting and slightly injuring his wife when he was drunk in the early hours of Sunday morning and assaulting two police officers and a doctor some time later.

Magistrate Anthony Vella heard 42-year-old Emanuel Ciantar plead not guilty to assaulting and injuring his wife in Qormi at about 2 a.m. and assaulting and injuring doctor Stephen Muscat, PS James Grech and PC Steve Farrugia at about 3 a.m.

Mr Cutajar was granted bail on condition he does not drink alcohol and placed under a supervision order. He was also bound by a personal guarantee of Lm2,000.

Lawyer Joseph Brincat appeared for Mr Cutajar.

Police Inspectors Raymond D'Anastas and Marisa Camilleri prosecuted.
