A child nutritional survey conducted by Nestle, which closed on Wednesday, has received an overwhelming response, a company spokesman said.

The Nestlé Nesquik Plus survey was part of a nutrition awareness campaign promoting the importance of vitamin intake in children. It was aimed at helping parents and school authorities evaluate the nutritional profile of their children/students, thus creating more awareness. The results will be announced in the summer.

The company pointed out that obesity is a major social issue in Malta, where 35 per cent of school children aged seven to 11 are obese or overweight. This was the highest figure in Europe, followed by Sicily and Spain according to IASO - EU Platform on Diet, Physical Activity and Health - Brussels 2005.

Meanwhile, Nestlé recently launched the FIFA Nestlé Cereal in Malta at the Luxol Football Nursery.

Nestlé Cereals are the official licensed breakfast cereals during the upcoming 2006 World Cup tournament in Germany and to launch this association with the sporting tournament, Nestlé has launched the exclusive limited edition FIFA Cereal.

The FIFA World Cup 2006 Nestlé Cereal consists of crispy vanilla flavoured cereal balls.
