Guided tours of Heritage Malta's Conservation Division
On saturday morning, Heritage Malta will be offering exclusive free guided tours of its Conservation Division in Bighi, Kalkara. Heritage Malta was entrusted with the division last year and is now the national agency responsible for conservation.
All are invited to join these tours, particularly those with a high interest in conservation and cultural heritage management. Visitors will be able to observe conservators and students of Heritage Malta's Institute of Conservation and Management of Cultural Heritage (ICMCH) at work. They can also obtain information about the institute - which is Heritage Malta's teaching and research arm - and the courses it offers.
Heritage Malta's Conservation Division's work falls under six areas of conservation. Supporting these areas are a well-equipped documentation division and modern scientific laboratories. The ICMCH makes use of the Conservation Division's extensive facilities and resources in its provision of courses that lead to degrees conferred by the University of Malta or certificates awarded by the Malta College of Arts Science and Technology (MCAST).The Conservation Division also provides advice and support to privately-owned collections and buildings.
The tours of the division will be held every ten minutes between 9 a.m. and noon. Pre-booking is essential as only 20 people will be allowed to join each tour. To book contact Edwin Sciberras on 2180-7675/6 ext: 252.
