Now that the Eurovision Song Contest is over, we must have a post-mortem.

First, the televoting system is unfair. When the Malta event was held to select a representative song, many people did not lay the chance to vote or others voted with all the mobiles they could lay their hands on. People don't choose the best song. It's all a waste of money (and good revenue for telephone companies).

Secondly, Malta is an island and no immediate neighbours of ours participate. Year after year we see countries voting for their neighbours. If we had a neighbour we would surely vote for it. We voted for Switzerland because there was a Maltese participant. I thought that Switzerland was going to give us some votes at least!

We must be proud to be Maltese, to have such talent, and money should be spent on helping Maltese artists more. One day we should organise a local festival and proudly produce a high quality event as other countries do.
