The group Abacus is formed by a number of parents (on a voluntary basis), who work with a community worker with the aim of raising awareness about problems parents face when bringing up their children.

This group led by Amanda Ellul recently acted out a short play with an educational theme to parents and children of Cospicua Primary School. The actors were all parents who wished to convey the message to other parents of the importance of schooling for children.

The play dealt with the issue of homework. It portrayed how parents should help children with homework.

A discussion followed. A number of parents together with Year 4, 5 and 6 children, along with their teachers, were present.

This forum made it possible for parents, children and teachers to express their ideas so as to achieve a better understanding between these three important stakeholders in the education system.
