Maltasong board chairman Robert Abela yesterday filed a libel suit against a journalist at Maltastar.com over an article alleging he was drunk during the song contest.

Mr Abela filed the suit in the Magistrates' Court against journalist David Vella over the article entitled Eyewitnesses Swear Maltasong Chairman Was Drunk that was posted on the news website on Wednesday.

On Thursday, Mr Abela filed a suit against his predecessor, Grace Borg, and the Public Broadcasting Services' head of news, Sylvana Cristina, over comments made during Bondiplus last week.
