I put pen to paper because I am very upset with Air Malta and the way it seems to go about re-scheduling and cancelling flights. Of course, one may argue that every airline is entitled to do so, but this is resulting in great inconvenience to its passengers.
I have now travelled to Norway with Air Malta quite a few times, and every time there has been some kind of problem. It is not the first time that my flight has been cancelled or rescheduled and that causes me a great inconvenience because I have to take an internal flight to Bergen and every time I have to buy myself a new internal ticket!
The other day my travel agent, who is always very apologetic, told me that she could not issue an internal flight ticket for me anymore because it is an "e-ticket" and Air Malta's system does not support it. So I had to find my own solution, calling SAS myself. Then, 12 days prior to my departure, the travel agent called to tell me yet again that my return flight had been cancelled and Air Malta had automatically re-routed me via Frankfurt on another airline. This meant I had to get myself another internal flight ticket at a different time and day because I could not use the one I had.
Brewing with anger, I drove to the nearest Air Malta office and was told that they could not do anything about it and that their responsibility was to get me to Oslo. They told me I should have taken a "full fare" which means getting the internal flight on the same ticket. This is crazy, because a one-way internal flight from Oslo to Bergen was quoted to me as Lm75 when I paid Lm25 for one-way with Norwegian Air and maximum Lm40 for a two-way with SAS.
Logging my complaint with customer care and telling them my "history" of recurring hassles, I received no offer of a refund but the usual sing-a-long answer that they are not responsible.
This leaves me no choice but to stop supporting my local airline and shift to another one. A pity, because I was very happy with the service on board and I like to support everything that is Maltese.,
Bring on the competition!
