Boys from Years 8 and 9 of St Edward's College organised a food festival of French and Italian dishes which they cooked themselves.

Dominique Inglott, head of the Department of Languages, planned and monitored the preparation work for the activity in collaboration with her department colleagues. The Ambassador of France, Jean Marc Rives, and the Ambassador of Italy, Paolo Andrea Trabalza, attended the festival. Also present were Anne Louise Debeusscher, counsellor at the French Embassy and director of the Alliance Française. She was one of the guest judges.

The national colours of France and Italy which decorated the tables caught the eyes of the delighted ambassadors. All the judges as well as the boys and teachers present, tasted the food, which was deemed excellent.

Nicholas Vella Gatt and Matthew Formosa placed first, Brandon Muscat, second, and third place went to Matthew Curmi. Dishes included Oeufs Mimosa, Oeufs Belle Vue, Tarte Aux Pommes, Gateau St Honore, Cassata Siciliana, Struffoli, Sapori di Mandorle, and Polenta alla Zucca Gialla.
