Further to the correspondence on blue card holders, reserved parking spaces should not be allocated to anyone other than persons with a disability who drive their own car. A disabled person who does not drive does not go out often enough to merit a reserved parking space in front of the house. Reserved parking spaces are being allocated to anyone who has a family member suffering from a disability, so every time they use their car other than for the purpose of transporting their disabled family member, they comfortably find a reserved parking space.

Anyone who does not drive may easily be dropped off in front of one's door, and the driver can then drive off in search of a parking place, just like everyone else does.

I live in Sliema and if reserved parking spaces keep popping up at this rate there will not be any parking spaces left for residents because they will all have been taken by elderly persons, which form a high percentage of the town's population. Some of these elderly "disabled" persons can be seen strolling on the promenade or easily walking to church. If they have no problem going for a walk, then it should be no problem for them to be dropped off in front of their door.
