Air Malta will this summer operate a series of 10 flights between Reggio Calabria and Barcelona and will bring over to Malta an increased number of students from the Reggio Calabria region to study English.

This was announced last week during a press conference held in Reggio Calabria addressed by the mayor Giuseppe Scopelliti and Edwin Caruana, Air Malta's manager for Sicily.

The developments are the result of close collaboration between Air Malta officials and the Comune of Reggio di Calabria.

Last year the region sent 1,000 Italian students to Malta to study English and this year around 3,000 students are expected.

"It is the aim of Air Malta to further invest in the southern Italian region and diversify our operations," said Mr Caruana.
