An exhibition on Emperor Charles V is being held at the National Library, Valletta.
The exhibition is being held on the 500th anniversary of the moment when Charles of Spain started assuming the responsibilities which led him to becoming King of Spain and later Emperor of the Roman Empire.
The exhibition, organised by the Valencian foundation Jaume II el Just and the Amigos de Malta association in Valencia, has already been organised successfully in Spain and Italy. The exhibition includes manuscripts associated with the emperor, including the deed of the donation of Malta to the Knights in 1530.
Last Saturday, Maltapost, in collaboration with the Circulo Cultural Hispano Maltes and the National Library, issued a commemorative postal stamp.
A 35-man Spanish delegation came from Valencia to see the exhibition.
Speaking during the opening of the exhibition last Saturday, Education Minister Louis Galea said such exhibitions helped the Maltese and tourists learn about the country's history.
