The April copy of Din l-Art Helwa's newsletter Vigilo shows a photograph of Giuseppe Attardi's glorious bronze sculpture Enea, hidden behind a clump of trees in the Lower Barakka.
I find this inexplicable.
While the newly refurbished roundabouts have been disgraced with the weirdest of sculptures ranging from multicoloured phallic symbols to partially submerged water tanks posing as fountains, a bronze sculpture like the Enea, which is the finest modern work we have in the genre after the Sciortinos and Apaps, has been consigned to obscurity.
I propose re-siting the Enea on the Regional Road roundabout instead of the water tank; a place where literally all Malta will be able to appreciate its power, grace and beauty.
